Positive Material Identification

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the analysis of a metallic alloy to establish composition by reading the quantities by percentage of its constituent elements. Using a handheld x-ray fluorescence analyser (XRF) all ferrous and nickel-based alloys can be identified.

The XRF analyser is highly accurate at determining the chemical composition and therefore the grade of the alloy quickly and safely. Our technicians are certified in the use of an XRF analyser and in line with Ironising Radiation Regulations (IRR) fully comprehensive local rules for the use of the analyser are applied.
